Geneviève Janssens spent all her life talking about wines and vineyards. She put her soul into her passion. Her first mentor was her father who taught her to never compromise on quality while growing grapes and making wines. After she learned about Robert Mondavi Winery and visited it at an early stage of her career, she was drawn by Robert’s philosophy of winemaking and wine-growing. Robert Mondavi mentored her to be where she is now. After being Director of Production at Opus One, Director of Winemaking at Robert Mondavi Winery and now Chief Winemaker, she is ready for a new chapter in her life, mentoring new winemakers and helping winegrowers to excel in making great wines. She was rewarded with the Officer of the  ”L’Ordre du Merite Agricole” medal by the French government honoring services to agriculture. In 2010 she was named Wine Enthusiast’s Winemaker of the year, one of the industry’s highest honors. These awards recognize excellence in the wine industry, honoring the most notable figures. Genevieve now brings her years of experience and transitions to a consulting role, where she will be able to dedicate her time to sharing her knowledge with young winemakers as well as well-established wineries.
